With a starting lineup predominantly composed by players from Benfica, the U-19 Portuguese national team beat Germany by 0-1 in the 1st round of the UEFA Preparatory Tournament, which is taking place in Erevan, in Armenia.
Celton Biai, Tomás Tavares, Gonçalo Loureiro, Pedro Álvaro, Nuno Tavares and Diogo Capitão were the (six) "benfiquistas" who featured in the starting lineup fielded by the national coach Filipe Ramos for this encounter. Luís Lopes began the match in the substitutes’ bench and came on at 81'; Tiago Dantas also had the opportunity to play, coming on at 87'.
Portugal got off to a good start after beating the German national team. Portugal national team scored the solitary goal of the match at 58', with the “benfiquista” Nuno Tavares providing the assist for Pedro Neto.
The next match from the U-19 National Team will be against Armenia, at 10 am on Saturday (November 17). Three days later, on Tuesday (November 20), at 1 pm, the young Portuguese players enter the pitch to face The Netherlands.
