Club
The only club in the top 20 in several rankings of the study carried out by the governing body of the European football and 3rd in the transfer ranking in the last five seasons.
17 January 2018, 13h36
Led by Luís Filipe Vieira, Benfica is in the 12th place in the list of the 20 clubs with the highest attendance in their home league matches. In 2016/17, 951 184 spectators have passed through Estádio da Luz in the matches of NOS. The ranking is topped by Barcelona, the European club with the highest attendance in their venue: 1 482 646 people have passed through the stands of Camp Nou.
Between 2015/16 and 2016/17, seven clubs have raised their average attendance in, at least 5 thousand spectators. At the top of the list is West Ham United, who has moved to the London Stadium, having a growth of 22 062 spectators (average value). Benfica is in the 7th place of the ranking, with an average growth of 5630 spectators from a season to the other.
With respect to transfers, the reds were the third club who has generated more money with players sales in the last five years. They are in the third place of a ranking led by Monaco. Chelsea is in the second place.
Benfica is once again the only Portuguese club in the top 20 of clubs with player with greater value, surpassing the 115 million euros.
Net debt has to be analyzed in the overall context of investment and not separately. Here, Benfica's debt (309 million euros) has decreased 8% in relation to the same period last year – in contrast with the other two Portuguese clubs present in this ranking, FC Porto and Sporting, whose debt increased by 30 and 29%, respectively.
