A 2-all draw in the eagles' welcoming of Belenenses SAD to Estádio da Luz, in a match from round 25 of the Liga NOS. At the end of the match, André Almeida, who wore the captain's armband, was elected the Man of the Match and regretted that, given the opportunities created, Benfica had not taken the three points.
“Benfica made a good game! Belenenses had a very defensive approach, was a very organized team, with good players and defended with the weapons it has. In the first half, we had total control of the match, and we created several goal chances, Belenenses defended well, and we went to the break with a scoreless draw. In the second half, we entered on the front foot, we scored two goals, and against all the odds, in two minutes they scored two goals and tied the match. After that, we created two or three goal opportunities, and we could have clinched the win. If there had to be a winner, it would have to be Benfica”, analyzed André Almeida.
With the assist for Jonas' goal, André Almeida, with a perfect cross, has amassed eight assists in the Liga NOS, a mark that the full-back preferred to put in the background, highlighting the work of the team.
“I have been doing my job, like everyone else, and the most important thing was to get the three points, and unfortunately we did not get it. We are doing our job the best way we can, and we must continue as we have been saying, it is one game at a time and one training session at a time”, claimed the full-back of the team coach by Bruno Lage.
