The Portuguese athlete from Benfica is the current leader of the Triple Jump world ranking, with 17.95 metros, a mark which is also Portugal's record in the discipline.

"To be able to stay longer at Benfica is a very pleasant situation for me and for my family as well. I thank the President and the entire Club Board for believing in me. I am very happy. I have received a lot of support from fans and people who are at Benfica", stated Pedro Pichardo to BTV.
“I am very happy. It is a sign that Benfica believes in me and in my work. The best way to repay this bet is to do my job well as I have been doing so far”, said the triple jumper.

July, 22 2018 | He became Track National Club Champion for the men's athletics team of Benfica;
August 31, 2018 | He became champion of the Diamond League for the first time, winning the title in the meeting of Brussels, where he jumped 17.49 meters;
September 12, 2018 | The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) informs the Portuguese Athletics Portuguese Federation that Pedro Pichardo is eligible to represent Portugal as of the 1st of August, 2019.
