Pedro Pichardo extended his contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica until 2022. The Portuguese athlete, the current leader of the Triple Jump world ranking and the national record holder (17.95 meters) penned the new contract in the presence of the President Luís Filipe Vieira.

"To be able to stay longer at Benfica is a very pleasant situation for me and for my family as well. I thank the President and the entire Club Board for believing in me. I am very happy. I have received a lot of support from fans and people who are at Benfica", stated Pedro Pichardo to BTV.

“I am very happy. It is a sign that Benfica believes in me and in my work. The best way to repay this bet is to do my job well as I have been doing so far”, said the triple jumper.
