Pedro Pichardo nominated for best of the year in triple jump

The athlete of Benfica has as great competitor the American Christian Taylor.

Pedro Pablo Pichardo, the athlete of Benfica, was nominated for best of the year in the triple jump. The winner will be announced on December 4 in the gala of IAAF (International Associations of Athletics Federations) at the Grimaldi Forum, Monaco.

Pedro Pichardo, who already has Portuguese nationality, disputes the award with his great competitor this year, the American Christian Taylor.

Since 2017 at Benfica, Pichardo already has several titles and records.

The triple jump athlete celebrated the conquest of an Indoor Clubs National Championship and a Track Clubs National Championship, both with the men's athletics team of Benfica.

Pichardo, who extended his contract with SL Benfica, holds the triple jump national record (with the mark of 17,95 meters, achieved in the Doha Meeting) and won the Diamond League, a success confirmed in the Meeting of Brussels, where he jumped 17,49 meters.

  • September 12, 2018 | The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) informs the Portuguese Athletics Portuguese Federation that Pedro Pichardo is eligible to represent Portugal as of the 1st of August, 2019.
