PREVIEW

Coach Jorge Jesus previewed the match against Estoril, scheduled for 8:15 pm this Thursday, at Estádio da Luz, for the 2nd leg of the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup Taça de Portugal. In the first leg, Benfica won in Amoreira by 1-3.

Jorge Jesus

How does Benfica approaches the match? Considering that the team is in the lead, can there be squad management?

Reaching the final is one of the big goals of the season. There is one more match to play to reach the final. We are indeed in the lead, but we always have to respect our opponent. Estoril is a well-organized team, has technical quality in positional attack, and can create some problems for us, as they did in Amoreira. The passport to the final is what we all want. Regarding the management... It will be the third day after the game against Rio Ave. You [journalists] are aware of everything and you know that I usually change some players in these situations. Tomorrow [Thursday] the same thing will happen.

Jorge Jesus

How important is it for Benfica to try to win the Portuguese Cup? Does a possible victory in the Cup mitigate a season below expectations?

This isn't over yet and you're already asking me a question about the end of the season and the Cup final. First I have to play Estoril, then get to the final and then win it. There are still two games left. That is a scenario, that is a fact! If you ask me if it's important to get to the final and win? It is, whether it is after a positive season or a poor season. The fundamental is to win the trophy, the second most important competition in Portuguese football.

Jorge Jesus

Do you feel that this tie is already decided?

We have a two-goal lead and we play at Estádio da Luz. Before the first leg we already believed that we had chances to win this tie, so now we believe even more. In football there are surprises in every game. Therefore, neither the team nor the coach feels that the qualification is guaranteed. There is one game left.
