It is in the lead, the result of 1-3 win at the António Coimbra da Mota, that Benfica hosts Estoril this Thursday, at 8:15 pm, at Estádio da Luz, in the 2nd leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals.

This will be the 33rd official match between the two clubs at Estádio da Luz… Of the previous 32 at Benfica's home ground, three were for the Portuguese Cup and Benfica won two (1951/52 and 1993/94) and drew one (2016/17). However, Estoril has already dared to win in the Eagles' home ground. The three victories were always in the National Championship, the last time that happened was in 1950/51.

Benfica arrives at this match after beating Rio Ave by 2-0, in the game from matchday 21 of the Liga NOS. This result ended a four-match winless streak – three draws and one loss. Estoril, leader of the Segunda Liga, with 47 points, comes from a three-match winning streak, the last one against Benfica B (3-2).

INDIVIDUAL STATS

In the two clubs, some players have been standing out in this edition of the competition. At the forefront, in goals, Seferovic and Darwin among the Benfica players. The Swiss player has scored four goals and the Uruguayan has scored three. In the canaries, André Clóvis and Aziz have three goals each.

When it comes to assistsPedrinho is the Benfica player with more passes for goal: three; At Estoril, André Franco is the top assist provider with two.

Regarding minutes playedHelton Leite and Jardel, both with 360 minutes, are the Benfica players who have played more time in the Portuguese Cup; at Estoril, the goalkeeper Thiago Rodrigues has 570 minutes.

ESTORIL'S CAMPAING

With five matches played in the edition of the Portuguese Cup, Estoril began its campaign against Sertanense in the 2nd round with a 0-4 win. The goals were scored byAziz (2), André Clóvis and Hugo Gomes.

Next, they welcomed Lusitano de Évora to the Estádio António Coimbra da Mota and won by 5-0 (André Clóvis (2), Murilo, Chiquinho and Amani).

In the 4th round, Estoril beat Boavista by 2-1. The goals were scored by Miguel Crespo and Hugo Gomes

In the Round of 16, Estoril played away at Rio Ave and won by 1-2 (Aziz and André Vidigal).

In the quarter-final, the team under Bruno Pinheiro traveled to Madeira to face Marítimo and won by 1-3, after extra-time, with goals from Gamboa, Amani and Harramiz.

The semi-final is played in two legs. The first leg was at Estoril's home ground, Benfica won by 1-3. André Vidigal opened the scoring but the Eagles completed the comeback with goals from Darwin (2) and Seferovic.

To reach this round of the Portuguese Cup, the eagles beat Paredes, Vilafranquense,  CF Estrela and Belenenses SAD.

Adding the 1st leg semifinal match against Estoril, the team has 16 goals scored and one conceded. We now recall the stages of the path that has already been taken..
