Draxler grew up and made his professional debut at Schalke 04. He was 17 years old when, in January 2011, he faced Hamburg. It was at Schalke that he won the first titles of his career at club level, the German Cup in 2010/11 and the Super Cup in 2011/12.
The creative midfielder made his way to the German national team, for which he became World Champion in 2014 in Brazil. For Schalke 04 he made 170 appearances and scored 30 goals.
In August 2015 Draxler moved to Wolfsburg (45 games and eight goals scored), where he stayed until January 2017, and then transferred to Paris Saint-Germain. From then on, in 198 matches played (in which he scored 26 goals), the creative midfielder won four Championships (2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20 and 2021/22), four French Cups (2016/17, 2017/18, 2019/20 and 2020/21), three French League Cups (2016/17, 2017/18 and 2019/20), one French Super Cup (2020) and in between a Confederations Cup (in 2017).
He scored his first goal for Benfica (and at Estádio da Luz) on matchday 7 of the National Championship (September 18) against Marítimo.
