One of the most unquestionable players of Benfica and unanimously considered the most valuable player of the last championship. Signed in the start of 2013/14, he didn’t guarantee a place in the squad and returned to Spain, where he had just made one of his best seasons playing for Deportivo, in which he made 36 official matches and scored eight goals.
During the year he was loaned by Benfica to Espanyol, he made another top-level season, in one of the best and most attractive leagues in the world and made 34 matches, having scored four goals. After two seasons in Spain, where playing for two good clubs, he made 70 official matches and scored 12 goals, he settled in Benfica’s squad and in January, after Enzo Pérez’s transfer, he became the successor of the Argentinian midfielder.
At the end of the season, he became champion for the first time in Portugal. After that, he became a player recognized by the supporters and by his teammates and a solid and influent player, living the golden age of his career, which had started in his hometown, at Grupo Desportivo de Bragança. That was followed by the usual highs and lows in a young talent, playing for Braga, Ribeirão, Covilhã and Paços de Ferreira, Until he signed contract with Atlético de Madrid, in 2011.
