A physically strong central defender, 1.88 m tall, Lucas Veríssimo stands out for his good positioning, good aerial ability, and competence in the defensive department.
He went through the youth ranks of Bonifácio and Linense until he arrived at Santos FC's U20s in 2013, the club where he would make his entire professional career, before moving to Benfica. In Brazil, he won a Paulista Championship, in 2016.
Overall, as a professional footballer, he played 185 matches, scored seven goals, and provided three assists in the Santos jersey. Lucas Veríssimo, the best defender of the Brasileirão in 2019 (ESPN Brazil’s Silver Ball Award), made his last match at the Maracanã, in the Copa Libertadores final, against Palmeiras before joining Benfica. A good display that earned him a place in the team of the tournament.
