“Benfica is from Benfica and must return there” was the idea that dictated the location of the Sport Lisboa
e Benfica’s stadium and the return of the “red team” to the ground to which it has been linked since its
early days.
In this temporary exhibition you can get to know the connection between the parish of Benfica and Sport
Lisboa e Benfica, a history that is intertwined and recited together. Through the streets, buildings, and
lands they have once shared, the Club’s influence on the development of the territory and the construction
of its identity is now revealed

Benfica – The Place We Are
School project for 1st (3rd and 4th grades), 2nd, and 3rd cycles and for high school
New contexts, new approaches! The educational project “Benfica - The Place We Are” was born from
the desire to bring the Benfica Museum - Cosme Damião closer to the surrounding school community. Keeping
our commitment to promoting non-formal education, we will hold a series of activities at the Baldaya Palace
that will take a little bit of the Museum to the schools in the parish. Benfica is a territory closely
linked to the Estádio da Luz and where the memory of Sport Lisboa e Benfica is present: in the places, in
the toponymy, and in the people. We start from the concepts of identity and community to get to know the
local heritage and traditions, creating routes in the city and in our imagination. Together, we will get to
the place that we are
Key-concepts: Community | Identity | History | Memory | Sport | Territory
