International Day for Monuments and Sites 2021

In 2021, the International Day for Monuments and Sites celebrates the theme “Complex Pasts: Diverse Futures”. To participate in the debate, the Sport Lisbon e Benfica Cultural Heritage Direction developed a case study that allows to reflect on the importance of sports heritage for society.

The Portuguese Cup 1968/69 takes on different dimensions, covering areas as varied as art, the history of democracy, and cultural enjoyment. This trophy, explored in detail, exemplifies the plurality and richness that a sporting object can have. After all, can a complex past open the doors to a better future? And what role does the sporting heritage play in this future? Join us in this debate!
