Elected Best Player of the Liga BPI 2024/25 in the vote organized by the Players' Union, Cristina Prieto, Benfica's women's football team, received the trophy at Benfica Campus. Grateful for the distinction, the Spanish international told BTV about her “good season” and didn't forget the rest of the Reds' players. "It's an individual award and I couldn't have won it without my teammates. It was the team that made me win this award," said the goalscorer, who is in her first season at the club. "You never think the first year will be like this. I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me and the Benfiquistas. It's an award that shows that the season went well," said Cristina Prieto, an important element in winning the Fifth League Title in a row.
Christy Ucheibe, Joana Silva, Francisco Neto and João Veloso, players from Benfica's women's team and B team respectively, put their skills to the test in a skill challenge, in which the good mood and relaxation of the moment prevailed. At Benfica Campus, the challenge consisted of the footballers, in pairs, and in a series of 10 shots/passes by each participant, scoring goals in four mini-goals, worth points depending on the degree of difficulty, i.e. the distance to the target. Here's a video recording of the moment that connected the footballers from the different teams on the pitch...
With five wins in as many games played by Benfica in the competition during October and November 2024, coach Filipa Patão received the award for Best Coaching Staff in the Liga BPI - which she leads with a 100 percent winning record. The coach was grateful for the award, praising “a group that works every day to try to be better”. "I think this team has always been very ambitious and has always been hungry for titles, to win more, to look forward and to put new goals on the table. That's the secret," said the coach of the four-time national champions. Filipa Patão also received the most votes in August and September.
With smiles that reveal their happiness and passion for wearing the Sacred Mantle, Lena Pauels and Anna Gasper, the eagles' footballers take us from their usual place of work, the Benfica Campus, to Cristo-Rei, to Jardim do Rio (Almada), passing through Lisbon, by the São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint, and culminating at the Estádio da Luz, in front of the statue of Eusébio. It's this different afternoon for the owners of Benfica's jerseys 1 and 23, both German and both already Benfica fans at heart, that BTV's "À Margem do Jogo" report portrays. As well as a series of curiosities and moments related to the life of the players since they arrived at the Club. All this, and much more, can be seen here!
