At the Estádio Municipal de Leiria on Saturday night, January 11, it was a penalty shootout to determine the winner of the 2024/25 edition of the League Cup. There, against Sporting, after a 1-1 draw in regulation time, Benfica were stronger (6-7) and, in the end, lifted their 8th title in the competition, cementing their status as the most decorated club in the competition.
