Cosme Damião Benfica Museum
From the arms of his parents - 50 years of love and passion for Sport Lisboa e Benfica! On March 29, 1972, Damaia was the cradle of Rui Manuel César Costa, the boy that, during the trials, King Eusébio would select for the Glorioso Under-13 team. He carried out all his formative years at the Club, made his debut in the first team on September 22, 1991, he became champions and spread magic all over the pitch in Portugal and abroad. He was senior international (94 matches, 26 goals), played 12 seasons in Italy, where he shone at Fiorentina (1994-2001) and Milan (2001-2006). He fulfilled his dream of returning to Benfica (2006-2008) and, on the afternoon of May 11, 2008, at home, at his Estádio da Luz, he would end his football career in tears. Rui Costa, now President of Benfica, celebrates half a century of existence this Tuesday. Congratulations!
