Milija Mrdak, 25 years old, Serbian opposite, is the newest player of the Volleyball team, for season 2017/18.
"When the Benfica's people talked to me I thought it was a good opportunity. The club fights for all the competitions in Portugal and wants to win the Challenge Cup. It has ambition", he said to BTV.
Mrdak arrives at Luz, coming from Foiniksa Syros and in the last edition of the Greek championship he has showed his talent in terms of points, offensive moves and service efficacy. Before this, he played in Italy (Tuscania Volley).
At his country he represented the Vojvodina Novi Sad and the Partizan Vizura. Both Serbian teams have played against SL Benfica in the Challenge Cup, as in 2014, with Partizan Vizura, he played against the Eagles. "I played against Benfica in 2014. We lost. They told me good things about Benfica back in Serbia, that has good organization, with a high level and that is one of the best in Europe. I'm very happy to be here", he admitted.
Portugal is a new reality for Mrdak and the adaptation should not be difficult. " I think the adaptation won't be complicated, because the conditions and the players are very good. I'm going to put it all in order to help Benfica and win every competition".
Lisbon is one of the highlighted capitals on media, something which brought the player’s curiosity: "Lisbon is one of the world cities with most tourists. I've read about the city and the country. It is going to be good to live here. I want to get to know the culture and the food".
The opposite has completed his medical tests at Hospital da Luz and will be at the press conference, at 4:00, in the Pavilions' press conference room.
