Rui Vitória recognized the effort of the footballers and the dedication of the "Benfiquistas".
07 May 2017, 23h02
The coach, Rui Vitória, started his analysis by saying that Benfica was willing to win and it was shown on pitch during the 90 minutes.
"We faced a tremendous team. We came here and it was clear why we are in the 1st position. We cannot score in the first half, but, on the second, we took them to the defense and we scored. Triumph deserved by the players and the supporters on how they were supporting us", he said.
He added that: "Rio Ave is a good team, but we controlled the match after scoring the goal. We performed well, showed our game, we wanted to win and it was clear during the 90 minutes."
Rui Vitória even remembered the goal's move and congratulated Salvio and Jiménez. "A great move for us, with Jonas passing to Salvio, who assists Raúl Jiménez, who concluded very well. Congratulations to Raúl Jiménez but also to Salvio", he remembered.
Benfica is one step closer to the "Tetra", but the coach keeps his feet on the ground. "Celebrations only at the end. We want to be champions but it’s step by step. The stadium will be sold out and it will be a great help. It would be good for the players to be in history", he admitted.
