Benfica's Triathlon wins the award for “Team of the Year”

Benfica's Triathlon team won, this Wednesday, the award for "Team of the Year" of 2017, attributed by the Sports Confederation, in a gala held in Casino Estoril.

It should be remembered that, in July, the team – composed by Melanie Santos, Miguel Arraiolos, Vanessa Fernandes and João Pereira – won the European Champions Clubs Cup in Bayoles, in Spain, and also won the Youth National Clubs Championships. 

The Reds team surpassed Sporting's athletics team, the Women´s National team - who participated in a final stage of the European Championship for the first time-, the Roller Hockey Under-20 National Team, and the Men's Tennis Table National team.

To receive the award, the triathletes Vanessa Fernandes and João Pereira took the stage.

"Thank you for the prize, it's a shame we did not have the whole team here, it was a phenomenal day in a phenomenal event and having Benfica at the top was also special," said Vanessa Fernandes.

"I'm not going to add much more than Vanessa said. I just wanted to thank Benfica for supporting us to make this achievement possible, to all the coaches and the youngest athletes of the Club.I would like to thank all athletes of all other sports and others clubs that were also in this race, "said João Pereira.
