João Soares is one of the novelties in Portugal's squad list

João Soares is one of the novelties of the national team coach Mário Gomes for the game against Cyprus in the pre-qualifiers for the Eurobasket, which will take place in 2021.

The forward is one of the five Benfiquistas named, making the Club of Luz the most represented in the 12 player-batch. Cláudio Fonseca, José Silva, Tomás Barroso and Nuno Oliveira were also called up.

The game against Cyprus will take place on February 25th, at Pavilhão Municipal de Sines.
