The numbers tell that André Almeida has been establishing himself on the right side of Benfica’s defense. Indeed, the full-back is the most used player by Rui Vitória in the Liga NOS, with 1874 minutes played.

The Eagles number 34 moved up to the top of this statistic ranking in the previous encounter of the championship, surpassing Jonas, who in the away match at Portimonense was replaced by  Raúl at 64'.

A choice from the Reds coach in 21 of the 22 Gameweeks, André Almeida only missed out the match of Round 19, against Chaves, at Estádio da Luz, due to suspension.

In Gameweek 20 he returned to the starting lineup in the trip to Estádio do Restelo, in a 1-all draw against Belenenses.

André Almeida played the full 90 minutes 19 times, being only substituted in two matches, in Round 3 against Belenenses and in Round 15 against Tondela.

The right-back has two goals and four assists in the current edition of the Liga NOS.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
