The players of Sport Lisboa e Benfica B Ferro, Gedson and Heriberto renewed their respective contracts. The release clause of each one of the athletes is set at 60 million euros. A strong and firm bet.

Gedson Carvalho Fernandes was born on January 9th, 1999, he is a U-19 player and has extended his contract for one more year. The midfielder, born in São Tomé, arrived at Benfica in 2009, in the U-11 category, coming from SC Frielas.

The U-17 European Champion is in his 9th season at the Club, having been U-15 and U-17 National Champion.

Regarding caps, there are 56 in total (U-15: 2; U-16: 3; U-17: 30; U-19: 13; and U-20: 8, having scored four goals. It is worth mentioning, in 2017, the presence in the U-20 World Cup and the U-19 European Championships, both when he was still a U-18 player.

This is his 2nd season playing for the B team, where he made his debut when he was still a U-18 player.

In 2017/18 he participated in 27 matches with Benfica's jersey: 21 matches (1 goal) in the second division and 6 matches in the UEFA Youth League, competition in which he was a finalist in 2017.

Renovação de Francisco Ferreira (Ferro)

Francisco Reis Ferreira, known on the pitch Ferro, was born on March 26th, 1997, he is a U-21 and has renewed his contract for one more year.

The centre-back, born in Oliveira de Azeméis, is in his 8th season playing for Benfica, having arrived at the Club in 2008/09, through the Training Center of Aveiro. He integrated Caixa Futebol Campus in 2011.

U-15 National Champion in 2011/12 (his first season at Caixa Futebol Campus), Ferro has 47 caps: (U-17: 14; U-18: 7; U-19: 13; U-20: 9; and U-21: 4), having scored three goals. Highlight for the presences in the U-20 World Cup in 2017 and the U-19 European Championships in 2016.

In 2017/18 he has played for Benfica in 24 matches: 22 matches (2 goals) in the second division and two in the Premier League International Cup.

He was one of the players named by Rui Vitória to do part of the pre-season of the first football team in 2017/18.

Renovação de Heriberto

Heriberto Moreno Borges Tavares was born on February 19th, 1997, he is a U-21 and he has extended his contract with the Club for two more years.

The forward, born in Amadora, is in his 2nd season playing for Benfica and for the B team… renewing his contract precisely on the day he turns 21.

He has recently become the top goalscorer ever of Benfica B in the 2nd division, bagging 23 goals (he surpassed Ivan Cavaleiro, who scored 22). Currently, he is one of the top scorers of the second tier.

In 2017/18 he has represented Benfica in 27 matches: 24 matches in the 2nd division (scored 12 goals) and three matches in the Premier League International Cup (2 goals).

Joining Benfica contributed to his return to the national teams' call-ups, since the last season. He made his debut in the U-21 on November 14th, 2017, with a 2-1 win over Switzerland, for the U-21 European Championships qualification. In total, he has 12 caps (U-15: 2; U-16: 4; U-20: 5; and U-21: 1) and one goal.

Heriberto was one of the youngsters that earned the confidence of Rui Vitória, having participated in the 2017/18 pre-season of the first team.
