The Roller Hockey International Comitee has announced that Sport Lisboa e Benfica, in association with “Federação Portuguesa de Patinagem”, will organize the Final Four of 2017/18 edition of the Women’s European Cup.

This proposal has prevailed over the one presented by Club Patí Voltregà, by unanimous decision.

The clubs hosts, again, a Roller Hockey’s prestigious competition. In 2015/16, the Pavilion Fidelidade was the stage of the Men’s European League as the reds became winners, after beating Barcelona in the semis and Oliveirense in the final.

Between March 17th and 18th, in addition to Benfica, the event will count with the participation of another Portuguese team, the Stuart Massamá, and of two Spanish clubs, Gijon HC and Voltregà. The last one will be the red’s opponent in the semis.


To remember that the club’s women team won the competition back in 2014/15, after beating the French of US Coutras in the final.

Telma Monteiro's donation to the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião

An icon of Benfica and Portuguese judo, Telma Monteiro donated the kimono she wore in her last competition for the club, specifically the National Club Championship in October 2024, which earned her the women's title, to the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião. The judoka also donated the belt she wore during her last Olympic cycle. “It's the place where it makes the most sense to stay, leaving a little of my legacy, preserving my history with Benfica,” said Telma Monteiro.

An unforgettable Children's Day

This Tuesday, May 27, the Benfica Foundation and Sport Lisboa e Benfica marked World Children's Day with the participation of more than 1,500 young people.  Between the Estádio da Luz pitch and the pavilions, there were fun, educational and sporting activities, with the contribution of the various sports and the partners of the Club and the Foundation. Lively, with everything designed to stimulate the children and provide them with different experiences, this was a “very special” moment, as Jorge Miranda, director of the Foundation, told BTV. "We couldn't miss the opportunity to have an unforgettable day," he said. Representing the Almeirim Karting Circuit, Tiago Evaristo stressed the importance of “road education”. Benfica-Sporting: extended match highlights

In a match in which they had a penalty and a goal in their favor (it would have been 2-0...) reversed by the VAR, and also saw the post deny them a goal (Pavlidis' shot) and were hindered by the refereeing in relevant plays, Benfica conceded the equalizer (1-1) in the 11th minute (!) of stoppage time (90'+11'). Then, in extra time, they lost (1-3) the Portuguese Cup final against Sporting on Sunday afternoon, May 25, at the Estádio Nacional in Jamor.

With a 27-19, the Eagles won the 9th trophy of the women's handball Portuguese Cup in the Club's history.
