The National Team carries out the final test before a major international competition at Benfica's home ground. This time, the opponent is Algeria.

June 8, 2016. It seems a date like any other, but it is the date in which Portugal thrashed 7-0. The match which was held at Estádio da Luz had Cristiano Ronaldo and Quaresma as the standout performer and was the last in Portugal before the 2016 European Championship, a competition that would crown Portugal as the best team in Europe.
Nearly two years later, history is repeating itself. Portugal says farewell to the Portuguese people with an encounter in the Cathedral, this time against Algeria, at 8:15 pm on July 8th. The Algerian National team features players such as Brahimi, Slimani and Soudani, well-known players from the Portuguese football, as well as Rabah Madjer, the national team coach who represented FC Porto in the 1980's and 1990's.
The Russia World Cup takes place from June 14 to July 15. Portugal was placed in group B along with Spain Morocco and Iran.
