The athlete from Benfica won the competition after jumping 17,95 meters, which is the world's best mark of the year and the athlete's best mark this season.

With his personal best set at 18,08 meters, Pichardo kicked-off the event leading with a jump of 16,90 m, rising then to 17,44 meters and to 17,95 meters in the second and third jump, respectively. In the fourth jump, he achieved quarto 17,58 meters. The benfiquista abdicated from the 5th jump and in the 6th and last jump, he got the mark of 17,53 meters.
Pedro Pichardo prevailed over Christian Taylor and Alexis Copello, respectively 2nd and 3rd placed in the competition held in Qatar.
