Sport Lisboa e Benfica deeply regrets the death of its former footballer António Saraiva (84 years), one of the European Champions of the Clubs's history.

With an eagle on his chest for four seasons (1959-1963), Saraiva made his debut in Benfica's defense on November 22nd, 1959, in a match against Académica, in Coimbra, under the coach Béla Guttmann. In all, he took part in 50 matches for the Reds and scored a goal.

In terms of the domestic competitions, Saraiva contributed to the conquest of three Championships and one Portuguese Cup.
