The Benfica Museum-Cosme Damião received this Friday, an Honorable Mention in the category Partnership at the APOM Award Ceremony (Portuguese Association of Museology), which took place at the Museu dos Coches (Coach Museum).

The distinction – handed to the vice-president of the Club, Alcino António – is relative to the exhibition “Lisboa e Benfica – 20 Clubes, 20 Histórias”, located in the old secretariat of Sport Lisboa e Benfica at Rua do Jardim de Regedor, in the capital. The exhibition, inaugurated on June 30 of last year, tells us about SL Benfica and the 19 clubs of the city of Lisbon that faced the club in official matches of the Lisbon Football Association.

Telma Monteiro's donation to the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião

An icon of Benfica and Portuguese judo, Telma Monteiro donated the kimono she wore in her last competition for the club, specifically the National Club Championship in October 2024, which earned her the women's title, to the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião. The judoka also donated the belt she wore during her last Olympic cycle. “It's the place where it makes the most sense to stay, leaving a little of my legacy, preserving my history with Benfica,” said Telma Monteiro.

Another unforgettable evening at the stadium and museum

On the day of SL Benfica's 121st anniversary, Friday, February 28, the Estádio da Luz and the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião opened their doors once again for night visits. For the 3rd month running, Stadium & Museum By Night sold out with 750 people attending. Participants were surprised by the Cathedral's nocturnal illuminations and were presented with the Club's birthday cake. At the Museum, they were able to walk through the corridors of Benfica's glorious history, and it is worth noting that the writer André Pereira was present and offered some visitors portraits written in the form of poems. Another special Benfica evening, in communion between the Club's fans!

It was 60 years ago: memories of a historic Benfica-Real Madrid

José Augusto opened the scoring, António Simões made it solid with the fourth goal and Pérides helped fill the pitch in SL Benfica's biggest ever win against Real Madrid, 5-1 - which was also the meringues' first ever defeat in the European Cup. On February 24, 1965, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the competition that would evolve into the Champions League, the Estádio da Luz hosted an iconic European night for the Glorioso.
