Group D made its debut in the World Cup this Saturday, June 16. In the opening match, Argentina and Iceland locked horns, with Salvio in Sampaoli's starting XI.

At the Spartak Stadium, Argentina entered the match on the front foot, with Kun Aguero opening the scoring at 19’, however, Iceland responded shortly after, with Alfred Finnbogason scoring the equalizer at 23’.

In round 2 of the competition, Argentina faces Croatia, in a match scheduled for 7 pm on Thursday, June 21, at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.

Under-17: celebrating the third consecutive championship title

Benfica's Under-17s beat FC Porto on Sunday, June 15, on matchday 18 of the National Championship and won the 3rd consecutive league title in the competition and the 22nd in the club's history. At Benfica Campus Field No. 1, Tomás Soares (45'+1') and José Neto (54') scored the goals that gave the Eagles a 2-1 victory. For the first time in the same season, the Under-19, Under-17, and Under-15 teams have won their respective championships: it is a historic achievement for the Club in youth football! On the road to the Club World Cup debut

On the eve of taking the field at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami to make their debut in the first edition of the Club World Cup, Benfica's professional football team trained in Tampa (Florida), at the Waters Sportsplex. Preparations are being finalized for the match against Boca Juniors (Matchday 1 of Group C), scheduled for 11:00 pm continental time (6:00 pm local time) on Monday, June 16.

With eyes set on the future

A pioneering project, the Benfica Residential Academy, was officially inaugurated on Friday, June 13. The President of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Rui Costa, attended the ceremony, which took place at the University of Saint Leo in Tampa, Florida. Florentino, Renato Sanches, and Joshua Wynder, players from the Eagles' professional football team who were nurtured at the Club, also attended. Now, all together!

In Tampa, Benfica's professional football team continued the preparations  for the 2025 Club World Cup on Friday, June 13, with international players Trubin, António Silva, Kökcü, Pavlidis, Aktürkoğlu, Barreiro, Schjelderup, Dahl, and Bajrami already in the working group. On the other hand, Rui Silva, Nuno Félix, and Eduardo Fernandes – all registered players – left the training camp.
