Group D made its debut in the World Cup this Saturday, June 16. In the opening match, Argentina and Iceland locked horns, with Salvio in Sampaoli's starting XI.
At the Spartak Stadium, Argentina entered the match on the front foot, with Kun Aguero opening the scoring at 19’, however, Iceland responded shortly after, with Alfred Finnbogason scoring the equalizer at 23’.
In round 2 of the competition, Argentina faces Croatia, in a match scheduled for 7 pm on Thursday, June 21, at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
