Diana Durães beat the absolute national record in the category of 800 meters freestyle at the Mediterranean Games which are taking place in Tarragona, Spain, until July 1.

The swimmer of Benfica completed the event in 8:29.33, having finished in the fourth place. Still in the women's sector, but in the 4x200 freestyle, Victoria Kaminskaya reached the fourth position with the mark of 4.42.34. The swimmers second-best mark ever and the best this season.

In the men's 200 meters freestyle, Miguel Nascimento finished in the eight place with 1:51.47.

Diogo Ribeiro welcomed in euphoric mood

World champion in the 50 and 100 meter butterfly, Diogo Ribeiro landed in Lisbon on Monday morning, February 19. In the arrivals area of Humberto Delgado Airport, the Benfica swimmer heard shouts of congratulations and encouragement, and spoke to journalists about his "dream" in Doha (Qatar) and his goals for the future. "Until I reach the Olympic medal, I won't stop working," said the athlete, with the two gold medals on his chest, before thanking Benfica for their support: "President Rui Costa's message was the most special, because it's the club that supports me and gives me all the conditions to be who I am today."
