The former Argentinian attacker remembers his spell at the Club and confesses he intends to return to Estádio da Luz.
17 November 2017, 16h26
“It is something I have pending, but I will do it soon. Benfica is a Club that gave me a lot, both personally and professionally. I lived unparalleled moments, very beautiful; i left friend in Lisbon and would like to see then gain. I would love to go back to Estádio da Luz and see again people that treated me so well. Hopefully I will be able to go to Lisbon soon”, said, in an interview to "A Bola" newspaper, the former Argentinian forward that played in Benfica for three seasons (2009-2012).
Javier Saviola began at River Plate and it was there that he finished his career, in 2015. But, in between, he defended the colors of clubs such as FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. However, it was Benfica that surprised him the most.
“I always say it was the club that surprised me the most. I played at Barça and at Real Madrid and there you know what to expect, what they represent as an institution. I told Aimar several times that we had arrived at a club of which we didn't know its magnitude, its history, the player and the supporters”, he remembered.
“It was impressive to go everywhere to play and find so many fans. That surprised me a lot. Everyone treated me very well, I had the chance to win titles and everyone has great memories of me”, remembered the attacker, that playing for Benfica, won a Notional Championships and three League Cups.
