It was with temperatures near zero degrees that 21 of the 22 players named by Rui Vitória entered the pitch of the CSKA Arena for the usual pre-match training. Grimaldo was the exception due to physical issues.

The cold – and some snow– forced most of the players to wear protections, namely in the legs and neck. The practice began with some warm up, followed by a light run.

Before the exercises with ball, Rui Vitória had a small talk with the players.

Despite the harsh weather, the players showed a good mood, a sing of the ambition in the group lead by Rui Vitória.  It should be remembered that Benfica needs to win in the Russian capital to keep the dream of remaining in the Champions League alive.

Day 1 of a new journey

The 2025/26 preseason officially kicked off on Monday, July 14, with medical checks and physical tests between Hospital da Luz and Benfica Campus. In an atmosphere of reunions, renewed energy, and focus on what comes next, 28 players are present on this first day of work of Sport Lisboa e Benfica. Preparation will intensify on Tuesday, July 15, with the first pre-season training session scheduled for the morning, followed by another session in the afternoon at Benfica Campus.
