Ederson Moraes made his official debut in Benfica's first team on December 29th, 2015. On that date, Estádio da Luz hosted a match of the League Cup group stage, in which the eagles faced Nacional da Madeira.

It was the coach Rui Vitória who launched the Brazilian goalkeeper, who graduated from Caixa Futebol Campus and that currently plays at Manchester City, leader of the English Premier League .

Exactly two years ago, 20 107 spectators witnessed Ederson's debut live at the Cathedral, in a 1-0 win over Nacional da Madeira, with a goal from Raúl Jiménez in the 90’.

It would be the first of Ederson's 58 matches before he transferred to Manchester City at the end of the 2016/17 season.

The former eagles’ number 1 jersey played for Benfica's first team during two seasons and won five trophies – 2 National Championships (2015/16 and 2016/17), 1 Portuguese Cup (2016/17), 1 Super Cup (2016/17) and 1 League Cup (2015/16).

In his last season playing with an eagle upon his chest (2016/17) Ederson was named the best goalkeeper of the Portuguese League
