Benfica's opponent in the Round of 32 of the competition sits 2nd in the championship, but it comes to this game on the back of good results: six wins in seven matches.
14 February 2019, 09h00
Currently in 2nd place of the Turkish League, the eagles' opponent has amassed 11 wins, six draws and four losses in 21 rounds. It has scored 41 goals (an average lower than 2 per match) and conceded 23 (an average higher than 1 per match).
The January transfer market was busy in the club. Several players left the club and a few were signed and this has repercussions on the squad enrolled in the Europa League. Among the players who do not transfer from the Champions League are: Ahmet Sem (goalkeeper); Maicon, Serdar Aziz, Mariano, Güney and Kabak (defenders); Akgün, Babacan, Recep Gül, Karnucu and Celil Yüksel (midfielders) and Garry Rodrigues, Derdiyok and Ali Yavuz Kol (forwards). On the other side, teh following player were enrolled in the Europa League: Luyindama and Marcão (defenders) and Diagne (forward).
In 2019, Galatasaray seems to be in red-hot form. The team carried out seven matches, won six and drew one. Scored 18 goals (2,57 per match) and conceded three (0,43 per match).
