Tomás Araújo, Filipe Cruz and Henrique Pereira were the three starting eagles in Emílio Peixe's line-up, in the victory against Russia (1-2) at the Cappielow Park, in Greenock. The Portuguese team achieved, this way, its main goal: the qualification for the European Cup!

Among the eagles, Rafael Brito, Paulo Bernardo y Gerson Sousa were also called to the match, while the goals were scored by Famana Quizera (9') and Fábio Silva (81').

The U17 European Cup will take place in Republic of Ireland between May 3 and 19, 2019.

Benfica fought until the end for a different outcome in the last 16 of the Club World Cup, but after extra time they fell to Chelsea (1-4), thus ending their journey in the first edition of the competition in the United States of America. In a game that was interrupted in the 86th minute due to the threat of a thunderstorm and ended almost five hours after the kick-off, Di María leveled the score at 90'+5' (1-1), taking the match into 30 minutes of extra time, during which time the result hung in the balance for the English at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

At the Waters Sportsplex in Tampa, Florida, with all 28 players available for the competition, Bruno Lage's team held their final training session before flying to Charlotte, North Carolina, where they will face Chelsea in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup at 9 pm continental time (4 pm local time) on Saturday, June 28.
