Benfica's athletics team became the U-23 National Champion in men and women in the competition that took place during this weekend (June 22 and 23) at Estádio Municipal de Vagos.

In the male event, the eagles won with 208,5 points, against the 185 from Sporting and 39 from Juventude Vidigalense. The female podium finished with the same order: Benfica (161 points), Sporting (154) and Vidigalense (71).

Destaque para os atletas encarnados que obtiveram marcas de qualificação para os Europeus Sub-23: Frederico Curvelo percorreu 200 metros em 21,32 segundos, igualando a sua melhor marca do ano; Delvis Santos melhorou para 21,42 segundos também nos 200 metros; e Paulo Soares foi campeão nos 400 metros barreiras (53,62).

No escalão de Juniores destacar também Gonçalo Veloso, que obteve, no salto em altura (2,12), a marca de qualificação para os Europeus Sub-20.
