Four Benfica's athletes were on the rink in the start of the Roller Hockey European Championship: Pedro Henriques and Diogo Rafael represented Portugal, while Jordi Adroher and Albert Casanovas (new signing for 2018/19) represented Spain.

The Portuguese team faced and beat Andorra in the launching match with a clear victory 11-0, as Pedro Henriques and Diogo Rafael were included in the starting V.

Just like Portugal, the national team of Spain also counted on two benfiquistas as starters in the victory against England (10-1). Jordi Adroher and the the new signing Albert Casanovas.

Benfica fought until the end for a different outcome in the last 16 of the Club World Cup, but after extra time they fell to Chelsea (1-4), thus ending their journey in the first edition of the competition in the United States of America. In a game that was interrupted in the 86th minute due to the threat of a thunderstorm and ended almost five hours after the kick-off, Di María leveled the score at 90'+5' (1-1), taking the match into 30 minutes of extra time, during which time the result hung in the balance for the English at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

At the Waters Sportsplex in Tampa, Florida, with all 28 players available for the competition, Bruno Lage's team held their final training session before flying to Charlotte, North Carolina, where they will face Chelsea in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup at 9 pm continental time (4 pm local time) on Saturday, June 28.

After a day off, Benfica's professional football team trained at Waters Sportsplex in Tampa on Thursday, June 26, with their sights set on the round of 16 of the Club World Cup. In this stage of the competition, the Eagles will face Chelsea at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte at 9:00 pm in mainland Portugal (4:00 pm local time) on Saturday, June 28.
