Minutes before the start of this Tuesday afternoon training session, in St. George’s Park, Yuri Ribeiro spoke to the journalists.
“The team is very focused. The week has been having training sessions in the morning and in the afternoon, always very demanding at the physical level, but the group is focused and ready to evolve more each day. That is our objective and the group is working in the best way”, he guaranteed.
The left-back was loaned out to Rio Ave in 2017/18 and in this return to Luz, he expects to grow to help the team reach the proposed targets.
“I am ready to evolve in every moment. I am very happy to be here, I look to help all my teammates, just as they help me. I am focused on the team and on helping it reach the objectives”, he underlined.
“I am very happy, and it seems I never left Benfica. It is, in fact, a huge Club, the club I love”, he added.
The coach Rui Vitória also has been an important support for Yuri Ribeiro at this stage and deserved the footballer’s recognition.
“He has been helping me a lot in my evolution, just as in my teammates’ evolution. We have been working hard to be ready”, he revealed.
After the training camp in England, Benfica will participate in the International Champions Cup, where it will face Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, and Olympique Lyonnais.
“We know that we will face top quality teams. In the pre-season that is what we want, to faces the best teams. We must give our best to be ready for those matches”, he said.
