Before the training session, the coach of the Turkish side, Phillip Cocu, launched the match in a press conference and sounded words of warning about Benfica's offensive capacity.

“Our opponent is offensive and knows how to break to the attack quickly. It is a strong team in short combinations”, he said.

“When you play against a team like Benfica, all details are decisive. Benfica is a high-level team, but the two team are highly qualified”, he added.
