The centre-back made in Caixa Futebol Campus analyzed the duel against Bayern, he highlighted the posture of a Benfica team that “gave everything”.
19 September 2018, 23h16
At the end of the match, in statements to BTV, Rúben Dias analyzed the duel and made clear the the ambition of the squad.
“Above all, we feel that in certain moments we could have scored a goal. Our ambition was to win this match at home. We faced a very strong team but that never lowered our ambition. The ambition remains! We were able to create dangerous offensive plays, to have our opportunities but in the end, it all came down to efficacy. They scored the goals at the right moments; we, despite that, managed to keep the team connected, looking for the goal but unfortunately, we did not score. That was what dictated the outcome”, analyzed the young centre-back from the Eagles.
This Wednesday evening there were 60 274 fans at Estádio da Luz…
“I want to thank the presence of all the supporters! It is very important that they are connected with us, they help us to get excited and want to get far in this competition”, he said.
To wrap things up, when asked about the re-encounter with Renato Sanches, a product made in Caixa Futebol Campus, the Red's centre-back revealed that is was a “very special especial” re-encounter, a source of “happiness”, remembering that “just four years we faced each other in the training sessions and now we face in a Champions League match”.
On Sunday, the return to Liga NOS, with the home match against Desportivo das Aves, the Champions League returns on October 2, with SL Benfica traveling to Greece to face AEK.
