Gedson: “The goal was not a fortuitous play"

The 19-year-old midfielder is now the third youngest player to have scored for Benfica in the Portuguese Cup.

At 53’, he scored Benfica's second goal against Sertanense and, at the age of 19, he included his name on the list of the youngest players to have scored for the Reds in the Portuguese Cup (21st century), according to the date of the platform Playmaker Stats.

"We did a great match, that was reflected in the scoreline, the team played focused, always to win. The goal was not a fortuitous play, it was a play that was trained, we train these and other situations. I am happy for the goal and for the team's victory”, said the midfielder at the end of the encounter who scored his first goal in 2018/19, the first in the domestic competitions.

“We will be ready for the next match against Ajax. The team will be strong and thinking about the victory”, he guaranteed, speaking about Tuesday's match in Amsterdam for the matchday 3 of the Champions League.
