João Félix, a player nurtured at Benfica Campus, received this Monday (December 16), in Turin, the Golden Boy award! The young Portuguese international succeeded De Ligt, Mbappé and Renato Sanches in the list of winners.

The award for the best young player in the world, given by "Tuttosport", honors the season held by the footballer in 2018/19 (debut season at Benfica's first team), but also gives credit to the work done at Benfica Campus

"People know how hard I've worked to win this award. It was something I wanted and I'm very happy to be able to do it. I've always said to my brother [Hugo Félix, a Benfica academy player] that this was the first individual prize I wanted to receive. I also want to thank all my family and all my teammates who helped me on this journey", said João Félix during the ceremony.

Golden Boy

This is the second athlete from Benfica's youth development center awarded with the prize after Renato Sanches in 2016.

There are only three clubs that have nurtured two Golden Boys to date. Benfica (João Félix and Renato Sanches), Ajax (De Ligt and Van der Vaart) an  Monaco (Mbappé and Martial).
