Sport Lisboa e Benfica will be present in the United Soccer Coaches Convention – the world's largest association of coaches – that takes place this week in Baltimore, in the United States of America.
This world-class event will have more than 30 000 football coaches and administrators, with nearly 200 education sessions, key networking, and partnering opportunities and provides insights to major trends in the industry.
The Benfica delegation, led by Luisão, counts with Rodrigo Magalhães – Youth Development & Foundation Phase Director of Coaching, and Filipe Coelho – U17s Head Coach, who will be presenting on-pitch and in classroom sessions focused on Benfica’s Program: “Prospect to Pro”. These themes resonate strongly with Benfica deploying forefront methods and technology used at Benfica Campus, as well as promoting best practices and learning opportunities within the industry.
This participation comes under a partnership between Benfica and United Soccer Coaches, which recognizes the Portuguese club as one of the best in the world in youth football and whose academy was twice voted the best in the world in the Globe Soccer Awards(2015 and 2019). This association will also allow MLS [Major League Soccer] coaches to participate in training sessions at the Benfica Campus.
The partnership encompasses a long-term strategic approach to coaching, innovation, and educational initiatives showcasing best practices for player development at Benfica Campus. The connection will last all of 2020, with future educational initiatives to be announced at the Convention, including an exclusive coaching immersion program to take place at Benfica Campus in 2020, made available exclusively to the United Soccer Coaches membership.
