In an exclusive statement to the Official Website, the athlete calls for everyone's contribution to preventing the virus from spreading.
"I had to be creative with my home exercises, I've been doing a lot of bodyweight exercise in particular. I have also been running a lot in the park near my apartment ", he told.
"It's been hard being away from my teammates and coaches, from competing every day. We're a family", he claimed.
On a possible return to work, the athlete stresses that, first, we must defeat COVID-19. "I hope the competition may be resumed. We have unfinished competitions [Portuguese Cup and League], but everyone's health and safety is the number one priority. We need to do our job right now", he stressed.
The player also reveals how he's been following the news coming in from US territory. "The situation in the United States of America is getting worse and Seattle, my hometown, is one of the worst places. Fortunately, all my relatives and friends are healthy and safe", he said.
Micah Downs took the opportunity to leave a message to everyone in this difficult time: " Be responsible and stay home as long as you can. Wash your hands frequently. Keep your loved ones close and make the most of this extra time we have together. For Benfica!"
