RÚBEN'S FAREWELL
It's official: twelve years after joining SL Benfica, where, season after season, he grew up and became one the biggest quality examples from the red academy, Rúben Dias joined Manchester City, from the Premier League.
"My wish was to leave in the right moment, and I believe that’s what we did. Me and all the people here, but also the people supporting me at home. I think it’s really the right moment!", said Rúben, in the dressing room, in front of his (ex-)teammates, after the 2-0 win over Moreirense in Matchday 2 of the Liga NOS.
"I always wanted to leave Benfica with a smile on my face. It was a long time here. I want you to know that, – and I think you know – that I’m leaving happy and you should be happy too, because I’ll keep living my dream", declared the defender after being elected "Man of the Match".
"Mi biggest wish is for you to smash it [teammates] and be champions. I was already locked in and that’s why it’s so hard to say goodbye. The coach is here to guide you, to help you reaching the top. Good luck!", exclaimed Rúben.
