TRIBUTE AND ETERNAL LONGING

On behalf of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, and my behalf, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ângelo Martins, one of our eternal two-time European champions and one of the symbols that will remain forever in the history of our Club.

SL BENFICA DECREES 3 DAYS OF MOURNING

Angelo Martins, a player who, between 1952 and 1965, won two European Cups, seven National Championships and five Portuguese Cups at Benfica, belonged to that golden and glorious generation.

It is with deep regret that the entire Benfiquista Family lives this moment of pain, mourning and eternal longing before the departure of Angelo Martins. Credible of our fairest tribute, may he rest in peace!

Benfica's professional football team held another training session on Saturday, April 26, at the Benfica Campus, with a view to the match against AVS, scheduled for Sunday, April 27, at the Estádio da Luz. The match from round 31 of the Liga Betclic is scheduled for 6 pm.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
