On October 25, 2003, a remarkable work in the history of Sport Lisboa e Benfica became a reality. The new Estádio da Luz "was born"! Seventeen years later, the Official Website gathered 17 fun facts. 

On October 25, 2003, the new Cathedral was officially inaugurated in a match against Nacional Montevideo.

The new Estádio da Luz has hosted 426 official matches from the eagles, and the team won on 315 occasions. Playing at home, Benfica scored 965 goals and conceded 306.

Estádio da Luz, 30th most valuable in the world, according to the 2020 ranking of the consultancy Brand Finance, hosted on August 23 this year the decisive match of the 2019/20 Champions League, and before that, two more matches of the Final 8. For the second time, the venue hosted the most important match of the Champions League.
