Chongqing Youth Football League: the first regional championship

As part of Sport Lisboa e Benfica's partnership with the Chongqing Football Association (CQFA), in China, the first regional youth championship was created, called the "Chongqing Youth Football League".

One of the most important vectors of the partnership that Sport Lisboa e Benfica established in 2019 with the Chongqing Football Association (CQFA), aims at the organic development of the youth football ecosystem in this Chinese province.

In pursuit of this objective and following the technical coordination work carried out by our Coordinator Fernando Costa, CQFA created the first regional championship “Chongqing Youth Football League”.

With this strategic commitment from the CQFA, Chongqing clubs will have a regular competitive framework, which will be an important step in improving the offer of contexts that contribute for the development of young Chongqing players.

In this new competitive system, designed by our coordinator Fernando Costa, the teams will be able to play on a regular competition with 18 rounds, instead of the current 6 to 8 games that they played in concentrated tournaments.

Sport Lisboa e Benfica will continue to strengthen its partnership with the Chongqing Football Association and now wants to leave the votes of the greatest sporting successes to the first ten Clubs participating in the Chongqing Youth Football League:
