Rafa, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's attacking midfielder, is one of the 26 players chosen by Fernando Santos to defend the colors of Portugal in the final stage of the European Championship 2020, to be held between June 11 and July 11. 

Included in Group F of the Euro 2020 - to be held across the Old Continent - Portugal will face Hungary, Germany, and France.

GOALKEEPERS: Rui Patrício, Anthony Lopes and Rui Silva;

Preparing for a new clash

Benfica's professional football team began preparations for their clash with Auckland City on Friday, June 20, at 12 noon (5:00 pm continental time) at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, on matchday 2 of Group C of the 2025 Club World Cup with a two 30-minute halves training match against FC Naples on Tuesday, June 17. The Eagles won 2-1, with goals from Gonçalo Oliveira and Belotti.

Under-17: celebrating the third consecutive championship title

Benfica's Under-17s beat FC Porto on Sunday, June 15, on matchday 18 of the National Championship and won the 3rd consecutive league title in the competition and the 22nd in the club's history. At Benfica Campus Field No. 1, Tomás Soares (45'+1') and José Neto (54') scored the goals that gave the Eagles a 2-1 victory. For the first time in the same season, the Under-19, Under-17, and Under-15 teams have won their respective championships: it is a historic achievement for the Club in youth football!
