Lucas França, 24-year-old player, was signed by Sport Lisboa e Benfica to join the volleyball team. The athlete returns to our country after a previous experience with Castêlo da Maia.

After playing for Montes Claros/América Vôlei in 2020/21, Lucas França has accepted the red offer to return to Portugal. "For me, it’s a great honor and responsibility to represent such a big club as SL Benfica! I’m verry happy and can’t wait to be in Portugal to face the upcoming challenges ", said to the Official Website.

"I played there in 2018/19 [Castêlo da Maia] and in the previous season [2017/18] had the chance to work with Marcel Matz, therefore I’ll have an easy adaptation period, with the training sessions and the matches", he added.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
