Lucas Veríssimo: "Support from the fans is very important us"

Lucas Veríssimo scored Benfica's opening goal in the first match in the 2021/22 Liga Bwin. Elected "Man of the Match", the central exalted the triumph against Moreirense (1-2) and valued the support of the Benfiquistas, back in the stands of the stadium. 

Run from start to finish

"We knew it would be a difficult game, because games here are always difficult. We managed to impose our game and we could have scored more goals in the first half, but unfortunately the balls didn't go in. Then we conceded a goal at the end of the first half, which made the second half a bit more difficult. With the sending-off [of Diogo Gonçalves, after 56'], Moreirense grew, but our team behaved very well during the game, everyone played their defensive role well. I want to praise all the dedication and commitment of the team, which ran from start to finish, after a grueling trip [going to Moscow and back] in the last few days."
