Ana Catarina, from Sport Lisboa e Benfica, is nominated for the World's Best Goalkeeper of the Year 2021 award by the sport's website "Futsal Planet".

Besides the Benfica player Ana Catarina, Ana Carolina (Futsal Pescara), Bianca (Città di Capena), Angélica Dibiase (Città di Falconara), Jozi (CD Burela), Missi (Barateiro Futsal), Viktoria Sagaidachna (WFC Tesla), Sílvia (Poio Pescamar), Maria Surnina (Normanochka) and Tavasoli (FC Saipa) are nominated.

On a collective level, Benfica, who in 2020/21 achieved the Treble (National Championship, League Cup and Super Cup) and became four-time champion, is one of the ten nominees for Best Female Futsal Team 2021. It competes against Burela (Spain), Falconara (Italy), Leoas da Serra (Brazil), Normanochka (Russia), Palayesh (Iran), Pescara (Italy), San Lorenzo (Argentina), Taboão da Serra (Brazil) and Tesla (Ukraine).

Preparation on stage for the final

On Tuesday afternoon, May 20, Benfica's professional football team trained at the Estádio Nacional, the venue for the Portuguese Cup final. "The main objective of the academy is to develop the athlete with the Benfica methodology and combine the academic part with the athletic part," Ruy Castelo Branco told BTV. “Feeling and experiencing this on a daily basis, especially the energy of the Benfica Campus, is enriching,” he said, noting that the goal is to continue cementing the Club's values in the United States.
